PIEGA Head Developer Kurt Scheuch has always been fascinated by innovation and technological high-performance. His conviction that the perfect speaker must represent an infinitely small point sound source, led to the coaxial ribbon system that radiated not only the tweeter range, but also the entire mid-high range on the X-, Y - and Z- axis from the same point.

An idea becomes a reality.

Another approach describes the so-called line source as the ideal transducer. In the case of the line source, all frequencies are radiated as coherent cylindrical sound waves - a principle for which the PIEGA ribbon loudspeaker technology would be eminently suitable. Furthermore, since the degree of distortion increases linearly with the deflection of the membrane on each loudspeaker, the line source (whose sound-producing surface is considerably greater than with conventional speakers) exhibits only extremely low distortion.

 
 
 
 

Combination as a cornerstone

This the idea was born to combine both approaches and to develop one line source with several ribbons. In several years of development, the PIEGA Master Line Source was born, whose tweeter/midrange panels were ultimately each equipped with 24 ribbon tweeters and nine used as dipole ribbon midranges and in each of whose subwoofers six 22 cm basses are used.
